Modifying the front mounts for street use

Since the suspension parts I'm using are intended primarily for dragstrip use, they do not offer an option for mounting the upper and lower link bars in a parallel configuration. While being basically useless in a competition setting, parallel link bars allow the rear axle to articulate without binding, for proper handling on a bumpy street. I decided to add what I'm calling "street holes" to provide this option.

Notice that additional piece on top, with the hole in it? That hole will allow the upper link bar to be mounted parallel to the lower one...

With the shape traced onto paper and cut out, I can trace it onto the steel.

Since I don't have any 3/16-inch steel handy...

I remembered that the 2x4-inch steel tubing in my garage has a 3/16-inch wall thickness...

These pieces will definitely need some cleanup, especially on what was the inside surface of the tube.

Trying to get a 1/2-inch wide bandsaw blade around these curves is like steering a tour bus through the corkscrew at Laguna Seca.

Plasma rough cuts

After some time spent with the bandsaw, it becomes clear that the closer I can get with a faster tool, the less of my life I'll spend on this part of the project.

Inside curves are the worst

Inside curves are the worst

To cut around this inside curve, I have to make several cuts from the edge and cut the curve in sections.
